British & Irish Hardwoods Trust
What is it?
Two legally constituted charities, both called The British and Irish Hardwoods Trust (BIHT) have been established, one in Great Britain and one in the Republic of Ireland. They were set up because many potential supporters of the work of BIHIP could only give funds to a charity. BIHIP itself, being a loose association of landowners, research institutions, universities and professional foresters, has no legal status.
It's mission
The sole function of the British and Irish Hardwoods Trust is to raise funds to support the work of BIHIP.

How to collaborate
There are two ways you could support the work of BIHIP:
-
Through participating in the work of one of its species groups. Contact details for each are given in the relevant section of this website, or
-
by supporting the work of BIHIP with a donation to the British and Irish Hardwoods Trust. For this please complete the donation form.
To give an indication of likely costs of BIHIP’s work:
£50/€70 would help to raise 50 seedlings from seeds collected from one ‘plus’ tree
£100/€140 would cover the cost of collecting seed from one ‘plus’ tree’
£500/€700 could pay for the measurement and data entry for a single site trial
£1,000/€1400 can help establish a trial consisting of 500 trees
